Dan Hurley said that leading scorer James Bouknight will be a “game-time decision” on Saturday afternoon. Bouknight hyperextended his left elbow in Tuesday’s win at Marquette and has been “very limited” in practice this week. Bouknight has had X-rays and MRI’s taken, and there is ongoing discussion as to whether the injury may be long-term. Something Akok’n, Pt II?: A viral video on social media earlier in the week captured Akok Akok saying he would be making his season debut on Tuesday against Marquette. Akok wound up not even being in uniform for the game. There was no such viral video this time around, but the chances of Akok making his long-awaited season debut may be better on Saturday. Unlike Marquette, which boasted 6-9, 250-pound Theo John and 6-9 Dawson Garcia up front, Butler doesn’t have great size or talent up front. And the Bulldogs would appear to be a lesser opponent than Marquette, as well, perhaps paving the way for Dan Hurley to give Akok his first game action since tearing his Achilles tendon last February.
