University students have been treated with contempt. They are ready to revolt

In these lockdown times, we won’t see students storm the barricades around York, Exeter, Bristol and Aberystwyth. Or, due to the legislation enacted under the Coronavirus Act 2020, stage sit-ins at Aston and Brunel, De Montfort and Edge Hill. Who would be surprised, however, were students to turn off their screens for a single day en masse, blacking out the very notion of university education while trapped at home across an increasingly dispirited country. Not me.
I couldn't blame students or their parents if they revolted in any way possible. Why shouldn’t young people at least power down their PCs in protest at the way the Government and individual university bodies are keeping them - and us - in the dark about how they will deal with the realities of what is happening?
