The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb (UUFD) at 158 North Fourth Street will be hosting its second and last Winter Farmers’ Market of its 2022-23 season from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 11th, 2023. Admission is $1 per adult; children are free.

Our February Winter Markets are the perfect time to take care of your Valentine’s Day, early Easter, or just Cabin Fever shopping while also providing a great opportunity to support farmers and artisans in our local community,

The Winter Market features humanely raised, hormone-free pork, poultry, lamb, grass-fed beef, and organic eggs, sausage, and cheese from the Hasselmann Family Farm in Mendota. You can wow your family and friends with special meals prepared with these amazingly high-quality farm products.

Other popular food products include locally raised honey from Charter Grove Honey Farm in Sycamore, organic French pastries from the nuns of the Fraternite de Notre Dame monastery in McHenry County, and hearty hot soup, bread, pastries, and beverages prepared by our own UUFD cooks. We also provide a luncheon seating area where you can leisurely eat and converse with your friends and family in between, before and after shopping.

Locally made artisan crafts include jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, fabric art, handmade soap, essential oils, drawings, photography and much more.

The popular used book sale offers a variety of children’s and adult’s titles, with most prices ranging from $.25 to $1. This year we have lots of new inventory in a variety of book categories for all ages and interests, so if you’ve visited our sale pre-COVID, you will not see the same books on the tables this year.

To create an even more warm and festive atmosphere for the market, D.K. Kolars and other local musicians will perform live music throughout the day.

Shoppers can count on finding numerous unique options for gifting their friends, family, and themselves without having to travel out of town. “Best of all,” says Coleman, “money spent locally multiplies throughout the community instead of leaving the county, helping to support
both our local vendors and a strong local DeKalb County economy. So come one, come all, shop unique and local farm and artisan products, have some hot soup, browse the used book sale, and have a great time with friends and neighbors.”

UUFD is located at the corner of N. First Street and Locust, with two admission entrances -- the main entrance on N. First Street, and the side entrance off of Locust Street. Parking is available in front of the Locust Street entrance and in back of the church building, accessible through an
entrance from Locust Street. Additional parking is available at the Van Buer city lot and in other nearby street parking.

We also have some spaces still available for a few more vendors, so interested local farmers and artisans should contact the Market Coordinator, Dorothy Coleman at dcoleman405@gmail.com; 815-901-4332, or the UUFD Church Office at office@uufdekalb.org; 815-756-7089, to request a registration form.
