Wage rise stimulus arguments do not add up – Ai Group submission to Annual Wage Review
The national employer association Ai Group has filed its second submission to this year’s Annual Wage Review, arguing for a delayed operative date for any potential pay increase for employers in distressed sectors and debunking the argument that a minimum wage increase amounts to stimulus.
Ai Group Chief Executive, Innes Willox, said: “Our analysis has demonstrated that the ACTU’s argument that an increase in minimum wages would have a similar effect to government stimulus payments does not add up.
“This argument has substantial flaws and should not be accepted by the Expert Panel of the Fair Work Commission.
