The 4. 1magnitude earthquake hit just before 5 00 yesterday afternoon. Centered just north of dover. Nbc10s katy zachry is live in center city with more on the quake and reaction. People across the region felt it. Boy, social media lit up. Reporter it lit up, thats right. So many people felt the ground shaking. And in turn, they were shaken. This is a rare event. The last time we felt Something Like this in our region was six years ago. Take a look at this video. This is what it looked like inside after the earthquake. The 4. 1magnitude quake didnt last long. People felt tremors for 10 to 14 seconds. People at the Dover Air Force base said it sounded like a bomb had dropped. Pets were terrified, they tell us, not knowing where to run. People in the philadelphia region described almost the same reaction. I jumped up, and everything was trembling. My daughter said the tree moved. I said, no, thatsance earthquake. They couldnt believe that it hit in their own back yard. We spoke to a man from zennera, delaware, who said he felt the ground from smyrna, delaware, who said he felt the ground shake. Mild. Ive never been in an earthquake or had anything like that. It seemed mild. Just shook the table a little bit. And lasted maybe, maybe ten seconds. A similarsized quake hit our region in august of 2011. The epicenter was in virginia. People from maine to georgia and as far west as illinois felt it at that time. It measured 5. 8 with aftershocks. The quake caused mostly minor injuries but damaged buildings in a nearby town. A 7. 3magnitude quake last month killed 500 people there. New from overnight in philadelphia, several people are in the hospital after two cars crashed with one of them smashing into a chinese restaurant. This was 27th and lehigh in strawberry mansion. One of the victims took off after the crash. Were working to find out the conditions of the victims. L i is checking structural damage at the restaurant. We now know more about the 15yearold teenage girl from delaware who police say was killed by a man she met on social media. The family of 5yearold sabri a mclean reported her missing on monday. Her body was found in a West Philadelphia alley the next morning. Philadelphia police say cole sweringer hearing stabbed her and set the body on fire. He told his parents who took him to the police station. Experts say this is a cautionary tale for young people. All the young people who want to run the streets with strangers and stuff from social media, its dangerous. You dont know who youre going to meet. Sweringer herring remains in jail without bail. Today details of a Child Predator and pornography sting. The state attorney general in new jersey plans to announce dozens of arrests following a ninemonth investigation. Were told the operation made use of a dog that can sniff out electronic evidence. Investigators targeted adult traffickers who tried to transport, lure, or send obscene material children. Former today show host matt lauer now faces accusations of Sexual Misconduct by as many as six impeachment. Lauer issued an apology yesterday saying in part, to the people i have hurt, i am truly sorry. He continues, some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized.
