By Jim Smalley Jan 6, 2021 4:37 PM The Saskatoon-based Western Grains Research Foundation has announced support of 284 thousand dollars for the University of Alberta Breton Plots. Board chair Dr. Keith Degenhardt says the Foundation has a priority to build agriculture research capacity at Canadian public research institutions. Operating for 90 years, the University of Alberta plots are one of the longest running crop rotation trials in North America. The funding will help purchase of a plot combine and tractor and build equipment storage. The Western Grains Research Foundation is the largest farmer-funded and directed non-profit organization of field crop research in Canada. The Foundation is projecting over 53 million dollars of research funding over the next 4 years for newd and ongoing initiatives.
