Gavin Newsom in the upcoming special election is virtually unchanged among California’s registered voters: 36% of registered voters support recalling the governor, compared to 51% who would vote no. The problem for Newsom? “That’s not how elections are decided. It's only among those who actually show up,” said Mark DiCamillo, co-director of the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies Poll. “And when you zero in on those who are most likely to vote, it's much closer.”
