This week’s White House Report Card finds President Biden on the verge of the Senate's passage of a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 spending package after compromises with centrists cleared away some hurdles.
It is a big win for the White House that is starting to stumble elsewhere, especially on its pro-immigrant policies that are driving thousands of illegal immigrants to the border.
The White House also felt emboldened when Biden took a slap at “Neanderthal” Republican governors who they believe are opening up their states too early, threatening a return to higher coronavirus infections. Tapping into the GOP’s outcry about the cancel culture hitting Dr. Seuss, the White House joked, “Republicans may complain, but they’re still in thrall, to a president who acted like a Neanderthal.”
