Visalia Unified is continuing to work out details surrounding next year — and with an update from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office expected in mid-June, smoothing out the finer details may have to wait just a little longer.
California State Department of Health will shape what classrooms look like next school year, including classroom sizes, mask-wearing, social distancing requirements and more. 
This move comes despite Newsom's announcement Wednesday that masks won't be mandatory after June 15. 
Parent Janelle Murphy took the opportunity to voice her concerns to the school board, adorning a “recall Newsom” mask as she questioned the science behind requiring students to wear masks in the classroom.
