Wisconsin has a new team dedicated to helping young people navigate the state's apprenticeship programs Ricardo Torres, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel There are dozens of companies around the state that offer apprenticeships to employees interested in entering various career fields. But finding the right program can be difficult. The department was able to hire those individuals through funding it received from the U.S. Department of Labor. Four of the five navigators are assigned to a different region of the state to assist job seekers with pre-apprenticeship, youth apprenticeship or registered apprenticeships. One navigator will help former inmates find apprenticeships. Apprenticeship is best described as a hands-on, post-secondary education like a college or university. But apprentices learn only a portion of their skills in a traditional classroom.
