By Devan Greevy The Worcester Business Center has begun a 25-year lease agreement with Green Street Power Partners of Connecticut to build a 2 megawatt, 2.6-acre carport canopy solar array in the parking lot of its office space complex. Covering approximately one-third of the existing parking lot at 67 Millbrook St., the canopy will provide covered parking for the center’s tenants while generating solar energy, according to a press release from Worcester Business Center. Electricity generated by the solar panels will be sold by the developer to electric utility National Grid. The agreement grants GSPP use of the property to build and maintain the carport canopy for the contract’s duration. The $6-million system received approval through the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target program offering financial incentives to commercial renewable energy projects.
