Worcester Business Center to add $6M solar carport canopy

The Worcester Business Center has begun a 25-year lease agreement with Green Street Power Partners of Connecticut to build a 2 megawatt, 2.6-acre carport canopy solar array in the parking lot of its office space complex.
Covering approximately one-third of the existing parking lot at 67 Millbrook St., the canopy will provide covered parking for the center’s tenants while generating solar energy, according to a press release from Worcester Business Center. Electricity generated by the solar panels will be sold by the developer to electric utility National Grid.
The agreement grants GSPP use of the property to build and maintain the carport canopy for the contract’s duration. The $6-million system received approval through the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target program offering financial incentives to commercial renewable energy projects.  ....

Connecticut company proposing construction of solar facility in Waddington


WADDINGTON — A Connecticut company is proposing the construction of an alternative current solar facility in the town of Waddington, one of several proposed in St. Lawrence County.
Green Street Power Partners, Stamford, Conn., is proposing the use of about 16.17 acres of a 161.5-acre parcel at 1497 County Route 31 in Waddington. The solar facility would have a maximum generating capacity of 2.5 megawatts.
Green Street Power Partners has submitted an application to Rural Development-Rural Business Program for funding of the proposal under the Rural Energy for American Program Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvement Loans and Grants program.
According to the company’s website, Green Street Power Partners is a national developer, financier and operator of solar energy systems for schools, nonprofits and municipalities expanding across the country. Fully subscribed community solar projects are located in several areas, such as Middle Grove, N.Y. ....
