Worcester Red Sox Worcester Red Sox notebook: Polar Park’s unique outfield offers challenges for fielders, opportunities for hitters | Katie Morrison Today 6:00 AM Twitter Share When the Red Sox became affiliated with the Portland Sea Dogs in 2003, one of the first orders of business at Hadlock Field was to build a replica of Fenway Park’s Green Monster in left field. The “Maine Monster” was built 37 feet high, just like its inspiration, giving Double-A players a taste of what their home park would be like if they were called up to Boston. When the Red Sox’ new spring training home in Fort Myers, Jet Blue Park, was designed, its dimensions matched Fenway’s, though the Green Monster in Florida is three feet taller and features seating inside rather than on top.
