Reporter well, we have confirmed that this is now a murder scene. That one person is dead as a result of shots fired in the 900 block of third street. Look behind me, you can see that the police are still on the scene. The block is closed here. Were at the intersection of third and i streets and the block will remain closed for a while. Waiting for the investigators to take one final look at the scene in the light of day. Now, the search for the person who fired these fatal shots is on going. No arrests have been made. Not a lot of information available. This happened after 10 00 last night. Shots fired here in this block. One person hit. They have died as a result of those injuries. All we know about the victim is that theyre described as an adult the victim is an adult male. No word on the identity of that person. Management sent out an email saying a man visiting the building had been shot. This morning the management is trying to reassure residents this was an isolated incident. Its a little concerning. You know we live on the floor right below what happened. You know, you think you live in the safe neighborhood. Something like this happens it shakes you up a little bit. Building management says that they have hired private security to patrol the grounds. That building is justmagallaudet metro station where a man was stabbed to death on the fourth of july. Spires will be back in court this week. Were working to see how a Howard County fire captain is doing this morning after he burned his hand. This happened while he was working this house fire in laurel on river brink court. The captain fell through the floor and burned his hand grabbing a glowing hand rail. The heat from the fire was actually so intense it damaged the side of a home 50 feet away. No word on how the fire started. The people who were living in the house did manage to get out safely. A firefighter passed out after this fire at a vfw outpost in front royal. Take a look, this is the scene on saturday afternoon. The firefighter spent the night in the hospital after passing out. The colonel Samuel Miller building on north royal building was destroyed in the fire and Officials Say the damage is worth over half a million dollars. The atf is investigating. Thats where some of the larger police vans are and some other investigators trying to collect evidence. Again, one person is dead were told. It is a male who was stabbed. This all started around 2 00 this morning, police got a report of an assault officers came and they found one man with stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he died. So again, right now, police and detectives on the scene collecting evidence, trying to figure out what led to this. And at this point no suspect information. We dont believe anyone has been arrested. The search is on for the mexican drug lord who escaped from prison. Guzman slipped down the shaft from his cell and he used a milelong tunnel that led to the half built house 60 miles west of mexico city. Investigators are questioning more than a dozen prison employees now. This is his second escape. He was captured last year. He was on the run for 13 years. Police are looking into the crash that killed people and sent four others to the hospital. Family member said two cars were street racing and lost control and hit a group of people nearby. It happened last night and Police Arrested one person. It is now 5 25. A developing story right now, crews are searching for a small private plane that never reached its destination in washington state. This is the plane theyre looking for. It left montana on saturday afternoon. And it was due to land in lyndon, washington, at around 7 00. Police say Leyland Bowman his wife sharon and their step granddaughter were all on that plane. A volcano in mexico erupted to life this weekend. The colima volcano had been smoking for days, so officials were able to evacuate every home before the eruption. Theyre surrounding it after gunmen broke into it to rob it and right now at least ten people are believed to be trapped inside. Now, still it is unclear if those individuals are being held hostage or if they are indeed hiding from the suspects. But we are hearing reports that a staff member inside that Shopping Center sent a text message to her boyfriend saying that she was being held hostage. Today, the man charged with threatening to kill House Speaker john boehner goes on trial. Michael hoyt threatened to use a gun or a poisoned drink to murder him. His attorneys will argue he was insane when he made the threats. Closing arguments are expected to begin tomorrow in the trial of the colorado Movie Theater massacre. James holmes is accused of killing 12 people and hurting 70 others in 2012. More than 250 witnesses testified including survivors and first responders. Holmes did not take the stand. So i want to show you behind me we know that one male dont know whether its a man or younger is dead from a stabbing. You can see there some of the police vans, detectives beyond that. Trying to gather evidence and figure out how this man ended up dead. It happened around 2 00 this morning. Police got a call about an assault, some sort of assault. They came out, they found the one male with stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he died. We want to show you the other side of the scene where we were earlier this morning. This is on huron avenue between porter and suitland road where this is all happening, this entire block is blocked off right now. Prince georges county trying to determine who killed a man trying to leave a party. Police say someone shot 20yearold darrell king, jr. , as he was leaving a house party in accokeek. The shooting happened early yesterday morning and neighbors say they were calling police before the shooting because of all the cars lined up and parked on the street. They were neighbors who stuck out on indian head driveway, couldnt get up on the surface road because of the crowd and volume of cars parked all over the place, blocking everything. And even access to this gate. Neighbors say this house is often the scene of loud and large parties. There is a 25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. Baltimore police, federal prosecutors and the fbi now trying out a new way to deal with the rise in crime. Baltimore city established a war room where multiple agencies can work together. It started this weekend. Baltimore leaders say theyll use it to focus on a small group of people responsible for a large amount of the citys crime. Moving forward focusing on our repeat violent offenders, focus on getting guns off of the street and focusing on making our neighborhood safer. There were 42 homicides in baltimore in may. That one month. It was the deadliest month for the city in 25 years. There is now a multimillion dollar effort in place to clean up debris along the alaska shore. The 2011 tsunami in japan swept 5 million tons of trash into the water and a lot of it washed up in hawaii, california and alaska. Alaskas isolated beaches are especially hard to clean. So far, crews have only recycled a few miles of debris. Japan is spending 2. 5 million to speed up the cleaning process.
