Water says about 3 oclock in the morning is when all of this started to happen. Its going to take between 10 and 12 hours for them to clean up this particular problem. As you know, it takes awhile, they got to bring in the heavy equipment, they got to find the break, drill down and then make the repairs. Its taking a little longer than normal to make some of these repairs simply because of the weather conditions and this is certainly not the only water main break there they are dealing with. Theres about three others in the city right now that are on their list and then also they said they have been dealing with some 200 water emergencies a day. Now, as far as residential customers in this area, fortunately they are affected cause they did shut off the water so its no longer flowing but the boathouse is the main customer, the boathouse and the gas station they said are the ones who are going to be affected without any water until they are finished with this. Wssc also dealing with water main breaks. Theyre saying they have about 94 that theyve been dealing with and in general, they get about 1800 water main breaks a year. The majority of them happening in these very cold winter months and theyre telling folks they need to be just patient with them. These breaks are happening faster than the crews can get to them. They are in an all hands on deck mode, even bringing in some private contractors and moving people from other positions within the company to go and help also out on the street with the mains, but they do have to do some prioritization taking care of the most critical water main breaks first. The other once just shutting off that water and waiting to get to it when they can, hone fully as quickly as possible. So, that is the latest from here in northwest. Local news.
