Unpaid Salaries: Striking Ekiti workers declare three days fasting, prayers

In a bid to further press for the payment of their allowances and other entitlements, striking staffers of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, have declared three days of fasting and prayers.
The strike, which is still ongoing, was called by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) of the teaching hospital.
They said they were owed several months of salaries, allowances, and deductions.
The fasting and prayers, according to them, was to seek the face of God and his intervention in their plight. ....

have just ended an eventful tenure as the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Oye-Ekiti. Can you share your experience with us?
I was the Vice Chancellor after Prof Chinedu Nebo, who was actually the pioneer VC and Prof Isaac Asuzu. Between them, they shared five-year tenure because Prof Nebo was appointed as the Minister of Power by President Goodluck Jonathan. Having said that, what really occurred was that I was only saddled with the mere pioneer status in view of what we had to do. When I got there, the place was almost like a desiccated land ....

JOHESU: Pathologists express dismay over planned strike action

THE College of Nigerian Pathologists (CNP), on Tuesday, expressed dismay over a planned strike action by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) and its call to the National Assembly to step down the Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Repeal and Re-enactment Bill 2020.
The CNP described the planned strike action and the call by JOHESU as one of the bullying tactics of the union in arm-twisting and blackmailing the Federal Government.
JOHESU had called on the National Assembly to throw out the bill, alleging that the main objective of the bill was to expand the discriminatory and oppressive tendencies of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria over other health workers in the country. ....

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey makes further clarifications on Trump's ban

Twitter’s Chief Executive, Jack Dorsey on Wednesday defended the platform’s decision to suspend U.S. President, Donald Trump’s account indefinitely.
Recall that Twitter banned permanently Trump’s account after the attack on the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob last week.
Twitter in a statement said after a close review of recent tweets from Trump’s account and the context around them, specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter, it decided to permanently suspend the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.
However, Dorsey in a tweet on Wednesday explained that the ban came after series of warnings issued to the American President. ....
