Police detention facilities overcrowded as judiciary workers' strike continues

Yunusa Agali and nine others have been detained by the police in Abuja since their arrest for burglary and theft on March 26 and 27.
The 10 of them have now spent over a month in a notorious detention facility, commonly referred to as ‘Human Abattoir’ which was used by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other police tactical units.
The police have refused to grant them administrative bail, saying the offence is not bailable.
The police were supposed to promptly prefer charges against them and arraign them before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The Nigerian Constitution provides that no suspect can be held in custody for more than 48 hours for any reason. Suspects should either be released on bail or arraigned in court within the stipulated period. ....

German police have arrested three people in connection with one of the world s largest platforms containing child sex abuse materials, prosecutors said Monday.
A fourth person was arrested in Paraguay, according to Interpol.
The online platform, which was known as Boystown and was hosted on the dark web, had 400,000 registered users when it was taken offline by an international taskforce.
The global team, spearheaded by the German Federal Criminal Police the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) included the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) and law enforcement agencies from the Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, Canada and the United States. ....

Musician, Lilfrosh remanded for allegedly assaulting girlfriend

magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of an upcoming musical artiste, Sanni Wasiu, popularly known as Lilfrosh, in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Okeoghene Iyomaterie.
Iyomaterie’s manager, Michael, had on October 5, 2020, on his Instagram page accused Lilfrosh of assaulting her.
Lilfrosh, however, denied the claim in an interview.
Our correspondent gathered that the 18-year-old Lilfrosh was invited by policemen at the Federal Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon, on Thursday, February 4, 2021, for interrogation.
The victim, who noted that she had been friends with the musician since January 2020, alleged that anytime they disagreed, it had always resulted in violence. ....

A Lagos court has ordered the remand of Lil Frosh, singer, at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly beating up Okeoghene Iyomaterie, his girlfriend who is better known as Gift Camille.

According to PUNCH, Adeola Olatunbosun of the Lagos state magistrates’ court in Yaba gave the order on Tuesday.
Lil Frosh was arraigned on one count of assault but pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned till March 9, 2021.
