Over a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, the recovery of Singapore’s hotel and tourism industry still has a long way to go due to the uneven situations in different parts of the world, hindering international travel, and the relaxation of border restrictions.

UAM players optimistic about Asia-Pac prospects, despite lack of big orders

The fledgling urban air mobility (UAM) sector has been boosted in recent months, with a slew of major orders for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Embraer’s UAM unit Eve clinched two significant orders within a week for its eVTOL aircraft – first from Halo, a helicopter and UAM travel provider in the US and UK, for 200 examples, then a 50-aircraft order from Brazil-based helicopter operator Helisul.

But the order that thrust UAM into the mainstream came a few days later on 11 June, when American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic Airways and aircraft lessor Avolon agreed to purchase up to 1,000 of Vertical Aerospace’s in-development VA-X4 air taxis. ....

US aircraft carrier sends message to China with historic Vietnam visit
Singapore has stated that there was no threat to the country emanating from the overflight of Chinese military jets through its flight information region (FIR) a little over a month ago.
The incident happened on May 31 when as many as 16 aircraft from the People s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) crossed unannounced into the Singapore FIR before eventually flying over Malaysian air space over the disputed South China Sea.
Singapore Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said on Tuesday that the overflight of Chinese military jets was not deemed to be a threat to the island nation. ....
