Exhibitions are popular and timeless events for bringing the community together and sharing artistry and ideas. Throughout the past century New Zealand has held regular national exhibitions to showcase what our country has to offer
between the different regions and internationally.
The 1939 to 1940 Centennial Exhibition is one of New Zealand s most significant as it was the centrepiece marking 100 years since the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi.
The timing was also significant in showing New Zealand s technological progress and innovative character in the face of a looming world war. After the announcement of war in September of 1939, the organisers debated whether to hold the exhibition. ....

I wish it weren t newsworthy, Rosalind Archer says in jest about her March appointment as president of Engineering New Zealand, the 22,000-member behemoth that registers the country s chartered professional engineers and holds them to account.

The New Zealand sharemarket followed strong momentum on Wall Street by posting a gain of more than one per cent, and was powered by big moves from Mainfreight and a2 Milk.
The S&P/NZX 50 Index
rose 143.34 points or 1.12 per cent to 12,912.19, after falling to an intraday low of 12,767.04. There were 72 gainers and 50 decliners over the whole market on strong volume of 59 million share transactions worth $231.17 million. ....

New data has found a reduction in demand in nationwide housing valuations, which could be the first signs of the housing market slowing.
CoreLogic s House Price Index tracks property value changes and its latest report has found a reduction in demand for valuations, down 11 per cent compared to the previous six months. ....
