This impressive scientific achievement paves the way to ending the pandemic, provided that vaccine uptake is sufficient. While the exact proportion is uncertain, it is likely that more than 75% of the US population will need to be vaccinated for the country to obtain herd immunity.

On December 30, 2019, a minute before midnight, the global medical community received a notice warning of a then-unidentified viral pneumonia.
LOS ANGELES - More than 2,900 U.S. health care workers have died in the COVID-19 pandemic since March, Kaiser Health News (KHN) reported on Dec. 23.
The grim milestone comes nearly a year after the global medical community first received an alert about an unidentified cluster of a pneumonia-like illness that would later come to be known as the deadly coronavirus.  ....
