Vadim Zarr (1947-2021), the American Immigrant Hero, who saved a Vineyard and his Family, has passed away after a long illness.
Anyone who has been to Terra de Promissio, knows the story. Charles & Diana Karren bought an old dairy ranch in 1999 outside of Petaluma. They got an Ag loan to plant a pinot noir vineyard. But because they had not budgeted for the new and very onerous Sonoma County compliance regulations, they ran out of money after the vineyard was planted.

BEIJING (Bloomberg): China, a fast-growing wine market, plans to turn a northern region on the edge of the Gobi desert into a centre of top quality wine production to compete with international brands and boost the local economy.
The Ningxia region has had a wine industry on the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains since the early 1980s. The area, lying at a similar latitude to the Bordeaux region in France, has more than 200 vineyards with annual production of 130 million bottles, or a quarter of the country’s output, Zhao Yongqing, a vice governor of the region, told a press conference in Beijing. ....

Winc, Inc. the digitally native wine retailer, is purchasing Natural Merchants, a purveyor of natural, organic, and biodynamic wines.
Natural Merchants was founded in 2004 by husband-and-wife Edward Field and Pilar Meroño. In announcing the deal, Winc said the acquisition reinforces its dedication to sustainability and organics and enhances the company’s ability to offer so-called natural wines.

Napa County voters may consider a new quarter-cent sales tax on the June 2022 ballot for 10 years to fund wildfire prevention programs such as fuel breaks and brush removal.
The Napa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted to explore the placement of the tax proposal on the ballot to fund long-term fire prevention measures estimated to cost $42.4 million over the next five years. The supervisors’ vote to explore a possible sales tax was unanimous.
“We need a sustainable funding stream to keep our community safe,” said Alfredo Pedroza, who chairs the Board of Supervisors. ....
