BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â Today, those ages 12-15 are eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in Kern County.
Dr. Jonathan Dario from Adventist Health joined 23ABC this morning to discuss this new development and answer questions surrounding the vaccine and adolescents.
This expanded eligibility comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Preventionâs vaccine safety review panel and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup recommended that the vaccine is safe and effective in protecting this age group against severe illness, hospitalization, and death. ....

Bay Area Reporter :: COVID vaccines for teens are now available in SF, elsewhere

Youth ages 12 to 15 are now eligible for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced May 12. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use authorization for this age group May 10. Teens can now receive the vaccine at several sites in the Bay Area.
Pfizer, the only vaccine authorized for this age group, is very effective in teenagers with studies showing that it prevents up to 100% of COVID-19 infections and produces protective antibodies, San Francisco Health Director Dr. Grant Colfax, a gay man, said in a statement. The science is clear; the more people we vaccinate, the more we drive down case rates and minimize the risk of transmission. Vaccines truly are our ticket out of this pandemic. ....

Parents in California can now schedule appointments for young people in their families aged 12-15 to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine using the statewide booking system.
“The more Californians who are able to get vaccinated, the better we can protect our communities and slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “Our efforts to protect the health and wellbeing of Californians are paying off, as we’re now leading the country with over 32 million vaccines administered and some of the lowest positivity rates in the entire country. Having vaccines expanded to teenagers is the next step in California’s path to safely reopening next month.” ....

SALEM, Ore. The Pfizer vaccine received its final greenlight for use in people between the ages 12 and 15 in West Coast states this week, according to Governor Kate Brown s office.
Pfizer s vaccine received the expanded emergency use approval from the FDA on Monday. The Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup which reviews federal decisions on COVID-19 vaccines for Oregon, Washington, California, and Nevada confirmed that the vaccine is safe and effective for youth ages 12 to 15 and notified the governors on Wednesday night. ....

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Imperial County kids ages 12 to 15 can now roll up their sleeves for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Imperial County Public Health Department sent out a press release early Thursday morning with the news.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup or WSSSR are both onboard after reviewing the Pfizer vaccine studies in this younger age group.
Local medical professionals are already vaccinating children ages 12 to 15. ....
