UPDATE: Cape Breton Police say Todd Francis Axworthy was located and arrested Tuesday evening at Towerview apartments in Sydney. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning.

Cape Breton Regional Police are asking for the public s assistance in locating a 45-year-old man who allegedly assaulted officers and stole a police vehicle on Monday night when police attempted to arrest him for several outstanding warrants.
Police say Todd Francis Axworthy is wanted for failing to appear in court on charges of mischief, drug trafficking, conspiracy, obstruction and numerous breaches of previous court-ordered conditions. ....

Floating through time; 25-year-old message in a bottle washes up on Cape Breton shore

SYDNEY, N.S.
A message in a bottle, sent more than 25 years ago, recently washed up on a Cape Breton shore, creating a relationship between two pen pals separated by decades and thousands of kilometres.
It was a discovery eight-year-old Nyima Mitchell made while playing with friends near the water behind his house in Cheticamp, N.S. back in October.
“I thought it was just some bottle that washed up here, but then I saw it had the paper in it,” recalls Nyima.
It was a message in a bottle, dated August 1995, and signed by a girl from Quebec named Nellie Nadeau. ....

For some bars and pubs in Halifax, St. Patrick s Day is the busiest day of the year, but some have decided to close.
For the greater good, we thought perhaps we d put it on hold until such time that we can sing and dance and share a glass of our favourite beverage, said pub owner Brian Doherty.
Doherty says the decision was made in conjunction with some of the city s other St. Patrick s Day hot spots.
We can control everything in here, but on St. Patrick s Day, generally in the past, there have been lineups outside The Old Triangle and that s an area we really can t control, Doherty said. ....

Man, woman arrested after RCMP seize drugs at N.B. First Nation

HALIFAX
A man and a woman are facing charges after RCMP seized drugs during a search of a home in New Brunswick’s Esgenoôpetitj First Nation on Friday.
Police say at approximately 7 p.m. on March 12, members of the Neguac RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services executed a search warrant at a home on Micmac Road, Esgenoôpetitj First Nation.
Police seized quantities of what is believed to be cocaine, hydromorphone and drug paraphernalia.
A 35-year-old man from Lavillette and 36-year-old woman from Esgenoôpetitj First Nation were arrested at the scene. Both were remanded in custody on unrelated warrants. ....
