One night after the Pierre Trappers scored a season-high 20 runs, they were shut out twice by the Western Nebraska Pioneers, who swept a doubleheader at Hyde Stadium 9-0 and 6-0. The Trappers were held to just five hits total in the two games, two in the first game and three in the second. Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Jul 23, 2021 | 10:09 PM PIERRE – A wild pitch by Sioux Falls West’s Jacob Mongar scored Cade Kaiser with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday as the Post 8 Juniors won 4-3 in the first round of the Junior Class A Legion State Tournament at Hyde Stadium. Kaiser walked to begin the winning rally, stole second, then scored all the way from second on the wild pitch. Earlier, Kaiser had an RBI single. Matt Brewer also drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in a run. Jackson Edman pitched a perfect seventh inning for the win. Jett Zabel worked the first six innings, allowing three runs, three hits, six strikeouts and four walks. ....
Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Jul 17, 2021 | 7:16 PM PIERRE – Lincoln Kienholz went five-for-six with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored and an RBI Saturday as Post 8 defeated Yankton 14-5 at Hyde Stadium to complete a sweep of the best-of-three first round series in the Class A Legion Tournament. Kienholz scored on an error with the first run of a four-run fourth inning that put Post 8 (24-17) ahead for good. Andy Gordon was three-for-four with four RBI and two runs. Jayden Wiebe was three-for-three with two RBI and three runs. Bennett Dean drove in two runs. Jack Merkwan had two hits. Maguire Raske struck out seven in four innings of relief to earn the win. ....
