have been receiving special treatment. senator sinema saying she's livid that new york city is getting a massive injection of funding while her home state and texas have been bearing the brunt of the migrant surge for years. talking about that money, new york city getting $104 million in fema aid and while that amount of money covers just 13 days of the cost of the crisis here, it is, in fact, the largest amount released from the department of homeland security's federal shelter and services program thus far. so new york has received the most from that funding. now, right now, new york is housing just over 56,000 migrants. in june, there were 144,000 migrant encounters. that's down from 200,000 in may. while not all encounters are released into the u.s. when they are released, they first touch the border states. new york, a sanctuary city is frustrated that some wind up here. mccarren park being the latest. but city is considering randall's island and central
