MIDDLETOWN – SUNY campuses, like so many other colleges around the state, went from on-campus to remote learning when COVID-19 consumed the world last year, but SUNY Chancellor James Malatras is hopeful that classroom education will be able to resume later this year.
During a stop at the SUNY Orange campus in Middletown on Tuesday, Malatras said all of the university system’s schools are getting the upper hand on the virus.
“Having our students and faculty and staff fully vaccinated will only allow us to be more in person because many of our students are demanding that frankly. They want to come back. This has been a trying year for students; it has been a trying year for everyone,” he said. “We are going to take the good of COVID. I think there are ways to supplement in-person instruction with high-quality online instruction that opens up doors for students to take a class here and take a class at another SUNY school, but our goal is to have our campuses fully reopened in the fall.”

Delta Air Lines said that it will start offering snacks and drinks to passengers beginning on April 14. Snacks and beverages were eliminated from many flights due to the coronavirus pandemic. Airlines were concerned that people would have to take off their masks to eat and drink, increasing the risk of COVID-19 spreading on the flight.
Delta said that hot food options will be available in June for customers flying in Delta One or First Class on select domestic coast-to-coast flights. In early July, Delta said that it will begin offering freshly boxed meals to flyers in First Class on select domestic flights. Delta did not say when passengers in regular seats will be able to order hot food or boxed meals.

ALBANY – The New York Senate, Tuesday, voted to approve the recreational use of marijuana with the vote along party lines as Democrats supported it and Republicans opposed it.
In the Hudson Valley, all Democrats voted for the measure, including Harckham, Hinchey, Mayer, Reichlin-Melnick, Skoufis, and Stewart-Cousins.
The two Republicans in the region, Serino and Martucci, voted against it.
Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan, a Democrat, said legalization “represents a tremendous economic opportunity for Ulster County that fits within our Ulster 2040 strategy to establish a more ‘People-Centered Economy’ by boosting our agricultural community, generating good-paying jobs in an emerging market, and creating additional revenues to support all of our county’s critical programs in addition to helping those disproportionately negatively impacted by marijuana laws.”

Charlotte Hornets v Cleveland Cavaliers
LaMelo Ball did not play well in his much-anticipated NBA debut for the Charlotte Hornets. The third overall pick in the NBA draft had zero points, missing all five of his shot attempts. Three of those attempts were from beyond the three-point line. He had three assists, one rebound, two steals, and three turnovers in just under 16 minutes of playing time.
After the game, which the Hornets lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 121-114, Ball's teammates told him not to get down on himself.
"I told him just to forget this one,"

Effort Builds To Legalize Marijuana In New York State | NewsRadio 1450/1370 WKIP

Jan 6, 2020
(Albany, NY) -- The halls of the state Capitol will be filled again this week as lawmakers return to Albany for their 2020 session. One pressing issue they'll need to address is a roughly six-billion dollar budget gap that was mostly caused by four-billion dollars in Medicaid overspending. The governor's office hasn't said whether he's in favor of raising taxes to cut the deficit.
Another item on the Legislature's agenda is expected to be marijuana legalization. Last year the effort to legalize recreational pot stalled as lawmakers still had many questions. The momentum could build for marijuana legalization this year as elected officials look for more revenue. This year's legislative session runs from Wednesday until June 2nd.
