PH active Covid-19 cases down to 93.3K

(File photo) MANILA - Despite logging another 4,575 new infections on Thursday, the number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the country continues to see a decline. In its Covid-19 bulletin on Thursday, the Department of Health (DOH) said the active case count has further decreased to 93,307 from 96,326 on Wednesday. According to DOH, 3,316 of the active cases are asymptomatic, 85,244 are mild, 2,991 are moderate, 1,444 are severe, and 312 are critical. Another 7,504 patients have recuperated, raising the recovery count to 3,479,485. Meanwhile, 94 new fatalities brought to 54,783 the Covid-19 death toll. Since the pandemic began, some 3,627,575 people have been infected with Covid-19 in the Philippines, 95.9 percent of whom have recovered. The country's positivity rate is pegged at 15.1 percent, based on the 36,407 individuals tested last February 8. All laboratories were operational on February 8 but five were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System. These laboratories make up at least 0.8 percent of samples tested and 1.2 percent of positive individuals in the past 14 days, the DOH said. Nationwide, 39 percent of 3,900 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 34 percent of 20,700 isolation beds, and 31 percent of 15,200 ward beds for Covid-19 patients are occupied. In Metro Manila, 31 percent of 1,300 ICU beds, 28 percent of 4,600 isolation beds, and 29 percent of 4,200 ward beds are being utilized. (PNA) }
