Bangladesh has asked Pakistan to apologise for atrocities committed by its forces in 1971. The matter came up during the meeting between Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Pakistan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar in Sri Lanka where the ministers were present to attend the Independence Say celebrations of the island nation. A readout released by Bangladesh Foreign Ministry said, "Pakistan should formally apologise for the atrocities perpetrated against unarmed Bangalees in 1971".
