Fans of crosstown rivals the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University are using their annual basketball “Crosstown Shootout” to help local servers. The Ohio teams’ supporters have been leaving bigger and bigger tips at area restaurants, writing messages for their team of choice on the receipt in what they’re calling the “Crosstown Tip-Off.”
The latest tip is the largest one yet and it was left at The Birch, a wine bar in Terrace Park. A Xavier fan left an impressive $4,525 on a $54.98 bill. It was reportedly crowd-funded by more than 90 local families who chipped in to make it happen. So far, University of Cincinnati’s Bearcats fans have tipped more than $20-thousand and Xavier’s Musketeers fans have tipped over $12-thousand.
