1/1 The ACT government has announced owners of electric vehicles (EVs) will enjoy two years of free registration, starting from today. Buyers of new or used cars with zero emissions between now and 30 June 2024 will have the free rego applied by the dealership, can have the incentive applied by visiting an Access Canberra Service Centre or calling 13 22 81. Those who convert their vehicle to a zero-emissions powertrain or import a fully-electric or hydrogen model from overseas – regardless of whether it's second hand – can also apply. "The ACT has an ambitious target of net zero emissions by 2045. Transport emissions now account for around 60 per cent of the ACT’s greenhouse gas emissions and, of these emissions, an estimated 70 per cent are from private vehicles," ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said.
