The 2024-2025 academic year will ring in a new era of dining policies after years of UCLA administrative policy around overdue housing charges. For students currently residing on campus, university dining is included within the housing contract, with six different options for meal plans of varying prices.
Associated Students UCLA announced new on-campus dining options for this academic year, including two new restaurants. ASUCLA opened the açaí bowl shop SAMBAZON in the Ackerman Student Union, a Chocolate Vanilla Twist soft serve ice cream location at Northern Lights and All Rise Pizza at Lu Valle Commons.
Students expressed concern over recent fluctuating spikes in the number of tickets handed out for improper electric scooter usage on campus. UCLA signed a contract in 2019 with Bird Rides Inc., a company that allows riders to rent electric scooters through a mobile app.
