Abstract In this paper, we investigate the problem of trajectory tracking control for marine surface vehicles (MSVs), which is subject to dynamic uncertainties, external disturbances and unmeasurable velocities. To recover the unmeasurable velocities, a novel adaptive neural network (NN) state observer is constructed.
