Conway resident first choice for permanent town administrator

CONWAY After two nights of final interviews, the Selectboard voted Thursday night to name Veronique Blanchard as its first choice for the permanent town administrator position, pending successful negotiations.
Blanchard, who currently serves in roles on the Conway Board of Health and as the assistant emergency management director for the town, was the Selectboard’s top candidate of the four who were interviewed between Wednesday and Thursday night.
Selectboard Chair Bob Armstrong said the idea is to have a permanent administrator in place by July 1. Negotiations with Blanchard will begin next week, and if successful, the board will extend her a formal offer. ....

CONWAY Kicking off an informational session at last week’s Planning Board meeting, a member of the Friends of the South River shared a video of flooding caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011, demonstrating the impact the storm had on the river downtown.
“The water was coming down Academy Hill Road because Pumpkin Hollow Brook overflowed and heading down Main Street,” said Michelle Turre, narrating the video. “The bridge over Main Street, down closer to the Post Office … that bridge, the abutment, washed all out on the upstream side, and the water was overflowing there as well.” ....

CONWAY The Selectboard began discussing the options it has for offering the town’s older residents access to a senior center and the resources it can provide during its Tuesday meeting.
The discussion began with a letter to the Selectboard from resident Lynne Hanley, which asked if the board would consider entering into an agreement with the Senior Center of Shelburne Falls “since the numbers of seniors in Conway is burgeoning and Conway has no senior center.” ....
