Staff File Photo/PAUL FRANZ Published: 4/23/2021 3:33:20 PM CONWAY — After two nights of final interviews, the Selectboard voted Thursday night to name Veronique Blanchard as its first choice for the permanent town administrator position, pending successful negotiations. Blanchard, who currently serves in roles on the Conway Board of Health and as the assistant emergency management director for the town, was the Selectboard’s top candidate of the four who were interviewed between Wednesday and Thursday night. Selectboard Chair Bob Armstrong said the idea is to have a permanent administrator in place by July 1. Negotiations with Blanchard will begin next week, and if successful, the board will extend her a formal offer.

STAFF FILE PHOTO/PAUL FRANZ Modified: 1/1/2021 10:28:12 AM SOUTH DEERFIELD — Three of the four local boards of health approved a motion this week for the Frontier and Union 38 regional school districts to remain in remote learning through Jan. 8. As Conway’s Board of Health did not have a quorum, a separate meeting will be held to vote on the motion. The vote followed a discussion by members of the Sunderland, Deerfield, Whately and Conway boards of health at a joint meeting Tuesday night. The discussion began with a recommendation from Deerfield Board of Health member Carolyn Shores Ness to resume remote learning on Jan. 4 and to resume hybrid learning on Jan. 7.
