The appropriations also include USD150 million to initiate the uranium reserve programme to address challenges to the production of domestic uranium…….
The total appropriation for the Department of Energy (DOE) is USD42.04 billion, which is USD3.45 billion above the FY2020-enacted level and USD6.31 billion above the budget request. This includes USD1.5 billion allocated for nuclear energy research, development and demonstration activities, including USD280 million for the Advanced Reactors Demonstration Program, which was announced in May. ....

Washington, D.C. – Congress has passed legislation sponsored by subcommittee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) that includes the sixth consecutive year of record funding for the Office of Science – the most important U.S. Department of Energy program that supports work at our 17 national laboratories, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
The Senate bill also prioritizes funding for supercomputing and advanced nuclear programs and provides the seventh consecutive year of record funding in a regular appropriations bill for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. ....

Washington, D.C. – Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson supported the Senate Amendment to H.R. 133, the Bipartisan-Bicameral Omnibus & COVID Relief Package, that will fund the government through Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 and provide COVID relief for Americans. This critical legislation marks the conclusion of several months of negotiations and passed the House of Representatives in two sections, the first with a vote of 327-85, and the second with a vote of 359-53. The bill is also expected to pass in the Senate, and President Trump said he will sign the legislation as soon as it arrives on his desk. ....
