JOHANNESBURG – Heinrich Klaasen’s captaincy was put firmly under the spotlight, following South Africa’s defeat in the third T20 International against Pakistan, with Proteas head coach, Mark Boucher questioning fielding positions and the use – and nonuse – of certain bowlers.
“When we’ve been put under immense pressure we have not responded in the way that we know our players can,” Boucher said ahead of the fourth T20 International on Friday, that South Africa has to win, to tie the series.
“I understand that the players are not used to being attacked like they have been at this level, which can be intimidating as we saw on Wednesday. We got a bit rattled, and didn’t stick to the plans we’d talked about nor were we as smart as we should have been, with regards to where we were bowling and where we were putting our fielders, we were chasing the ball the whole time.”

George Linde admits Proteas played on Mohammad Rizwan's arrogance

George Linde admits Proteas played on Mohammad Rizwan's arrogance

JOHANNESBURG – South Africa basically asked Mohammad Rizwan to continue to try and dominate them.
He duly obliged, but unlike his last four T20 innings’ against the Proteas, this time Rizwan succumbed, to the first ball of the match.
“I’m actually glad he came down the wicket first ball,” said George Linde on Monday. “We tried to play on his arrogance a bit – that’s not to say he is arrogant – but just try and force a false shot out of him. For two balls we were going to try and keep mid-off up and see if he’d give us a false shot, and luckily, first ball, he did.”

CENTURION - Babar Azam and Pakistan’s coach Misbah ul-Haq now share an achievement as the only two men to lead their country to an ODI series win in South Africa.
The scorelines are the same as well, 2-1, with Misbah’s side beating an AB de Villiers led South African team that contained, Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, Hashim Amla, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir in 2013. Misbah might tease Babar that he faced tougher opposition.
South Africa was without five players who went to the IPL on Monday, who between them shared 371 ODI caps. In addition, Temba Bavuma was also without Rassie van der Dussen, capped 23 times, who was injured for Wednesday’s series decider.

CAPE TOWN - The Proteas' have suffered a major blow ahead of the series decider against Pakistan at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Wednesday.
In-form batsman Rassie van der Dussen has been forced to withdraw due to suffering a Grade 1 left quadricep muscle strain at training.
Van der Dussen is the leading run-scorer for the Proteas in the series thus far, having struck his maiden ODI century (123*) in the first ODI at Centurion before following it up with a 37-ball 60 in the next match at the Wanderers.

JOHANNESBURG - Until the 47th over of Pakistan’s innings, Temba Bavuma had cleverly managed his inexperienced bowling attack.
Pakistan then scored 56 runs in the last three overs, and in that period, this match and series were lost.
Aiden Markram and Jon-Jon Smuts would not have arrived at SuperSport Park on Wednesday morning, believing they’d bowl overs 48 and 49 in the innings, but they, following on from a fine spell by Keshav Maharaj, had pulled South Africa back into the match late in Pakistan’s innings.

Lots to enjoy about Proteas Test win but Lady Luck played her part too

PRETORIA – South Africa got a lot more right in this first Test win than they did wrong, including being on the right side of Lady Luck’s mood.
The Proteas did a lot of good here; learning from their mistakes with the ball after the first day, the conviction to build a massive first innings total on a difficult pitch and then the way the bowlers operated in Sri Lanka’s second innings, building pressure relentlessly. A lot of boxes were ticked by the home team, but they had a lot of help from Sri Lanka’s misfortune with injuries.

CENTURION - Wiaan Mulder produced an impressive display of endurance in humid conditions here on Tuesday to drive South Africa close to victory in the first Test against Sri Lanka at SuperSport Park.
Mulder picked up two wickets in a nine over spell, in which he troubled the opposing batsmen with good lines and lengths. At lunch Sri Lanka were on 148/7, after Vishwa Fernando had been run out, quite comically, by a combination of Aiden Markram and Keshav Maharaj.
Wanindu Hasaranga will resume after the break on 28, with South Africa looking for just two more wickets to wrap up victory.
