With sunset now before 5 p.m., Akeley business owners are being asked to leave their outside lights on to improve safety in the city until power poles and street lights can be installed.
The Akeley City Council also approved the purchase of a used skid loader, not to exceed $35,000.
Leslie Seitz is a licensed drone operator for Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) District 2, which serves Hubbard, Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Kittson, Roseau, Itasca, Polk, Norman, Marshall, Lake of the Woods, Koochiching and Pennington counties.
Stage 2, which involves work on the west side of town, is expected to begin around Aug. 21.
