Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan is rallying public support for the city's fight to avoid a "highly wasteful and unproductive" final sewer project.
Since federal funds arrived in 2021, Akron has spent less than some and more than other Ohio cities with 22 active projects.
The $772 million budget includes the hiring of some 24 new police officers and 20 firefighters and medics.
The City of Akron passed legislation on Monday that allows federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to be invested back into the community.
