11 local virus cases revealed


KETCHIKAN (KDN) – The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center recorded 11 new coronavirus cases between its Friday and Monday evening updates, and one individual was hospitalized in the COVID-19 unit at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center on Monday.
“One case was reported late evening on May 7; three cases were reported on May 8, and seven cases were reported today,” according to the EOC  release. “Of the 11, six were determined to be close contacts to known positive cases, and five remain under investigation.”
In total, 10 cases were under investigation as to source on Monday evening.
“During the contact investigations, Public Health will coordinate with the positive person to reach out to anyone who may be a close contact and instruct them to quarantine,” the EOC statement read. “In the event of a positive case associated with the school district, Public Health will coordinate with school district staff to reach out to anyone ....

Mayor Dial is requesting the Assembly to support his proposed resolution which calls on merchants and service providers to refrain from discriminating against any individual by denying that person access to goods or services based upon their COVID-19 vaccination status or failure to provide that information.
According to the CDC, individuals should receive a wallet-sized vaccination card or printout that tells the specific COVID-19 vaccine they received, the date they received it, and where they received it. The CDC is not recommending or requiring that vaccination cards be presented publicly on demand for access to services. ....

(SitNews) Anchorage, Alaska - Alaska received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine last night via UPS plane. Delivery and transport of the vaccine to health care facilities across Alaska will be happening today through Wednesday, leading to the first vaccinations of Alaskans this week. 
“The COVID-19 vaccine is going to help Alaskans put the worst behind us,” said Governor Mike Dunleavy. “We will begin the process of finally getting the upper hand of this pandemic and getting our lives back to normal.”
