A Savanna manufacturing company makes one million water bottle refilling stations Elkay Manufacturing in Savanna, IL, has passed a huge milestone. And they say they're only picking up steam. Author: Shelby Kluver (WQAD) Updated: 9:22 PM CDT July 11, 2021 SAVANNA, Ill. — Elkay Manufacturing in Savanna, IL, has officially produced one million water bottle refilling stations. The refilling fountains are what you might find in schools, airports, businesses, conference centers and more, across the country. Elkay first started producing the stations a decade ago, as a way to keep plastic water bottles out of circulation and to promote clean, healthy drinking water. "A million of our units out in the field... if you do the math, it's about 40 billion plastic water bottles less in landfills, in the river, you name it! So that's a pretty big number," said Joe Lentini, Senior Director of Manufacturing at the company's Savanna, Illinois, plant. That's enough plastic bottles to circle the earth over 135 times.
Rolling Hills board approves state funding of school construction project Apex Power Group agreement pays the local share of the nearly $44M project The Daily Jeffersonian The Rolling Hills Board of Education approved accepting $21,486,605 from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission during Thursday's meeting to fund a construction project that will consolidate the district to a single location south of Byesville. The 51% local match ($22.4 million) for the $43.8 million project will be provided through an agreement reached several years ago with Apex Power Group, developers of the Guernsey Power Station. "Between the financing from the state (OFCC) and the local agreement with the power plant, it basically doesn't cost the district anything," said Rolling Hills Board President Dennis Dettra.
