Jeff Bezos Steps Down as the CEO of Amazon Breaking news! Jeff Bezos has stepped down as the CEO of Amazon. The company announced on Tuesday. 27 years after he first founded the company that has made him the richest man in the world, Bezos will transition to the role of executive chair in the third quarter of this year. According to NBC News, Andy Jassy, the chief executive of Amazon Web Services, will take over as CEO of Amazon. The exact reasoning behind this sudden change of power is still unknown. However, Bezos did called it "an optimal time for this transition.”
