A federal judge in Little Rock struck down Arkansas’ first-in-the-nation ban on gender affirming healthcare treatments for minors as unconstitutional on Tuesday, saying the law violates the Constitutional rights of transgender youth, their parents, and their medical providers.

Testimony concluded Thursday in a federal bench trial that will decide the constitutionality of Arkansas' first-in-the-nation ban on gender affirming health care for minors with a pediatric endocrinologist from St. Louis who said he has been studying the issue for 10 years and has concluded that until more is known, doctors who provide such care are doing so unethically.

Two former transgender people turned anti-transgender activists testified Wednesday for the state in the federal trial that seeks to determine the constitutionality of Arkansas' first-in-the-nation ban on gender affirmation treatment for minors.

A federal bench trial in the matter of four transgender youths in Arkansas, their parents and their doctors is set to resume Monday after recessing for five weeks due to scheduling conflicts in the court of U.S. District Judge James M. Moody Jr.
