Man killed on West Side identified

A man who was found dead last week in an alley on the West Side has been identified as 19-year-old Cassius Wilson, officials said Sunday.
Wilson’s body was found about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday in an alley between the 2000 block of Texas Avenue and Cincinnati Avenue, officials said.
He died from a gunshot wound, according to the medical examiner’s office.
San Antonio police said residents in the area told officers they had not noticed any suspicious activity at the time.
Police continue to investigate the shooting.

The state of the COVID-19 pandemic in San Antonio continued to improve Sunday as officials reported lower hospitalization numbers, two new deaths and just 15 new cases.
The number of new infections could be artificially low because of logistical problems at testing sites or laboratories.

San Antonio will add 10,000 first-dose vaccination appointment slots at the Alamodome starting Monday evening, officials said.
Bexar County residents will be able to register for an appointment starting at 6 p.m. Monday on the Metropolitan Health District’s vaccine registration website. Registration is also available by calling 311 and choosing option 8.
Individuals should be in vaccination priority groups 1A or 1B to register. Those groups include health care workers, residents and staff of long-term care facilities, school staff and childcare providers, anyone older than 65 and anyone older than 16 with a chronic health condition.
