Lieutenant William Montgomery’s plane was shot down during World War II near Arundel, West Sussex, on June 22, 1944 — his remains have recently been identified, 79 years later.
The remains were found in 2019/2021 and brought to America for DNA testing, which now confirmed they belong to Lt Montgomery (pictured), who will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
