What began as a 2008 Make-A-Wish North Dakota trip for Ellen, who had acute lymphoblastic leukemia, turned into a 15-year partnership touching the lives of hundreds of people across North America.

Anna, who knew that Ellen and Rosebud had bonded on the Santa Buddies movie set, gave her Rosebud and arranged to have the puppy flown to Winnipeg on Dec. 17.
