The 42nd Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off Festival

The 42nd Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off Festival returns on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the 4800–5000 blocks of Newport Avenue, along the waterfront and in the pier parking lot. This event draws 50,000 plus people to Ocean Beach to enjoy oceanfront chili cook-off, an array of food and merchandise vendors, 3 stages of continuous music, the Community Mural Project, Artist Alley featuring local artisans and crafters, and more. The Seaside Fun Zone will offer inflatables, games and place to relax, along with a fun music area for attendees to stop by and learn to play a simple song by one of Rock & Roll San Diego’s professional musicians.Featuring 20 tasting booths in both amateur and restaurant divisions, the Chili Cook-Off tastings begin at 11 a.m. and end when contestants run out of samples. Tasting can be purchased for $2 per chili entry, with a bowl of Committee Chili for $4. If you want to try every recipe and vote for the best, you can buy a Master Ticket for $20. If you’re interested in competing in the 2022 OB Chili Cook-Off, applications are online at OceanBeachSanDiego.com.An OB Street Fair tradition, the Community Mural Project allows attendees to paint a square section of a mural that will be installed in the Ocean Beach community. The mural area is located on Bacon Street just south of Newport. Squares are $20 each and go on sale at 10 a.m. They sell out quick, so come early to secure your space. All ages are welcome. Other activities include:• Hodad’s Burger Eating Competition: The reigning champion will go up against 9 other contestants at 4 p.m.• Beachside Beer Garden: Rockin’ all day for guests 21+ looking to enjoy an ice-cold brew or cocktail with an ocean view and live music from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.• Seaside Fun Zone: Offers inflatables, games, and a place to relax along with a fun music area for attendees to stop by and learn to play a song by Rock & Roll San Diego.Parking is available at Sun Runner parking lot located on Sea World Drive at Pacific Coast Highway. Trolley services will run from 9:30 am to 9 p.m., from the parking lot to two drop off locations in Ocean Beach. There is also a free bike valet at the intersection of Bacon Street and Newport Avenue.
