i think the problem right now is that we have a mccarthy manufactured crisis, a maga manufactured crisis, there is only one person in the congressional leadership and the president, the big five, who wants to default. they are threatening to default. and that s speaker mccarthy. so the best thing would be for him to back off that threat, and let the process of american government, he controls the appropriations committee in the house, we do in the senate, we work together and we go through a transparent process. put the pin back in the hands grenade and stop this. the problem comes if he can t figure out how to do a deal, can t actually close a deal, or can t sell a deal to his caucus. all three of which might be true. in that case, there s got to be a fallback other than defaults, and that s where the constitutional often comes in. even if the white house does ....

Turn of the merry go round than the last time we did the story is a lot of the visit ral between republicans and democrats in the senate seems to be gone. a few weeks ago there s goading for senate democrats to go through a partisan budget process. now this time we know that schumer and mcconnell met before everyone went home for recess and there are conversations ongoing. though the details are fuzzy and have not been hashed out publicly, but clearly movement happening, but definitely waiting until the last minute here. the last time we spoke to the chair of the appropriations committee in the house, she said there had been a lack of overchurns from republicans about what they wanted and didn t want when it came to funding the government. both of the crises looming. crises always looming a couple weeks before christmas. you can t do washington without that. let s talk about the third item on the list. on the to do list, build back ....

It made sense. i m very pro-immigration, but i don t believe we should open up our borders to let anybody come in here. we re a country of laws. and to enforce the laws you have to have a barrier and some places a wall. so this has got to be about more than political advantage for either side. it s got to be about solving some problems. and you can only do that by negotiating. here s why i m a little optimistic. the chair congresswoman from new york, chair of the appropriations committee in the house, now chair of this conference, by partisan conference committee trying to work out a solution so the government doesn t close again. she s a practical, effective and i hope she can work her will. we ll be watching for it. i want to ask more broadly about the democratic party. you ve not been a fan of some of the harder left positions taken by the 2020 candidates so far. i wonder looking ahead to twn20 ....

Be an extraordinarily conservative document which sla slashes, not just trims, but slashes and eliminates many social programs. we re going to be arguing all through the spring, went everin spring about this budget. tax reform isn t until august. obamacare repeal isn t happening for reasons we discussed. we re going to be obsessed about this budget and make ronald reagan s budget in 1981 which caused a huge storm in washington, look like a picnic. listen to what some of the republicans in the house are saying about this budget. this is charlie dent who s appropriations committee in the house. he said the president will propose and the congress will dispose, we ll look at his budget but at the end of the day we in congress write the appropriations bills and i am not one who thinks you can pay for an increase in military spending on the backs of domestic discretionary programs which constitute 13% or 14% of ....
