A new year, a new crop of exciting-looking restaurants popping up around the Bay Area. In Livermore, a pair of sushi-restaurant vets are opening a raw bar that highlights local sakes. A sprawling food hall with a dozen restaurants is scheduled for downtown San Jose, an oyster bar with whole cracked Dungeness crabs is coming to Oakland's Jack London Square and a Sicilian joint based on good ol' momma's cooking is launching in Danville. Good news for lovers of endless parades of skewered meats and cruise liner-sized salad bars: There’s a new Fogo de Chão opening in the Bay Area, this time in Emeryville. The Brazilian steakhouse chain will open on Nov. 6 in the Bay Street Emeryville shopping mall at 5633 Bay Street. It’s the third regional outpost of Fogo de Chão, with others in San Francisco and San Jose.

The dining scene at the Bay Street Emeryville shopping mall continues to get more interesting with the arrival of Flores, a Mexican restaurant whose San Francisco location has received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. Flores is set to open Nov. 3 at 5614 Bay St., Suite 244, right by the new pizza-and-hot-wings joint Arthur Mac’s Little Snack. The Emeryville restaurant will be split into two: a full-service restaurant, and then next door a Flores Taqueria offering grab-and-go tacos, bowls and salads.
