Hankering for handmade-masa tacos and cocktails with carnitas-fat wash? Then head to San Mateo's new Mexican joint Flores, an expanding Bay Area restaurant chain whose San Francisco location has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. This newest iteration of Flores opens Dec. 8 in the Hillsdale Shopping Center right off Highway 101. It's the second Flores to debut in recent months, with another opening in Emeryville in November, and marks the fourth location of the business (another is in Corte Madera).

The dining scene at the Bay Street Emeryville shopping mall continues to get more interesting with the arrival of Flores, a Mexican restaurant whose San Francisco location has received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. Flores is set to open Nov. 3 at 5614 Bay St., Suite 244, right by the new pizza-and-hot-wings joint Arthur Mac’s Little Snack. The Emeryville restaurant will be split into two: a full-service restaurant, and then next door a Flores Taqueria offering grab-and-go tacos, bowls and salads.
