Vijayan said instead of seeking an explanation from the Centre for such measures, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan was asking for a report from the state government on a petition for imposing financial emergency in the southern state. Vijayan said that Khan's move seeking a report from the state will not be able to hide the central government measures which have allegedly affected the economy of Kerala.
Kerala is the second State to move the top court this year in relation to financial disputes with the Central government. It has argued that Centre's actions have the potential to damage the federal structure.
The matter was mentioned before a bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha by Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi and advocate Sumeer Sodhi.
